Dry Skin

If you have not had a recent blood test to see if you need thyroid pills, contact your doctor's office.

Doctors use a blood test that measures the level of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) to determine if a person has an underactive thyroid gland. Experts don't always agree about the normal range for TSH levels. If your TSH level is higher than 3.0 and you still have dry skin or other symptoms of an underactive thyroid, you and your doctor should discuss whether to start thyroid pills.

Hypothyroidism might not be your only reason for dry skin.
