Your symptoms could be due to neuropathy, a term that simply means "nerve disease." There are many causes. Among the more common are alcoholism, diabetes, a B vitamin deficiency (such as vitamin B12 deficiency), and thyroid disease. The best way to sort this out quickly is to have an evaluation with your doctor. There are a number of medications to treat the numbness and tingling associated with neuropathy, but the first step is to figure out whether you have neuropathy and if so, which type.
Contact your physician if symptoms go on for more than a few weeks.
